Atrioventricular valve
The leaflets of atrioventricular valves are folds of endocardium covered with endothelium on their free surfaces. The core of each leaflet consists of dense irregular connective tissue that is continuous with the annulus fibrosus. Also seen is the attachment point for one of the chordae tendineae, fibrous cords which extend from the valve leaflet to one of the papillary muscles. 400x
