Annulus fibrosus
The annulus fibrosus lies at the junction of the membranous septum and the atrioventricular valve. This ring of dense CT is the part of the cardiac skeleton that encircles each valve. The annulus provides support for that valve and anchorage for the insertion of cardiac muscle fibers. The dense irregular CT core of each valve leaflet is continuous with the annulus fibrosus. 100x
