Semilunar valve
The semilunar valves in aortic (shown here) and pulmonary trunks consist of three, cup-shaped leaflets. Semilunar valves resemble atrioventricular valves with a central, dense connective tissue core covered on both surfaces by an endothelium. Each valve inserts into an annulus fibrosus. The atrial wall is much thinner than is the more muscular ventricular wall. 40x
