Oligodendrocytes

Satellite oligodendrocytes are located in grey matter of the CNS, adjacent to nerve cell bodies, such as this pyramidal neuron in the cerebral cortex.  Also present in this region are protoplasmic astrocytes.  The oligodendrocyte nucleus can be distinguished from the astrocyte nucleus by its smaller size and more heterochromatic staining.
