Trachea
This trachea, cut in longitudinal section, is lined by pseudostratified columnar epithelium with cilia and goblet cells. An underlying lamina propria possesses numerous, longitudinally oriented elastic fibers and bands of smooth muscle (neither of which are distinguishable at this magnification). Mixed glands are also present. Patency is maintained by cartilage rings, and a layer of connective tissue surrounds the outer perimeter of the cartilage. 10x
