Epididymis: body and tail
A longitudinal section of the epididymis reveals its crescent shape as it conforms to the posterior and superior surfaces of the testis. The epididymis is divided into a head region (containing the efferent ducts and the duct of the epididymis) and a body and a tail (both of which contain the continuation of the single, highly coiled duct of the epididymis). The section shown here consists only of the head and body of the epididymis. The epididymis is the site of sperm storage, maturation and propulsion into the ductus deferens. 10x
