Lipid

This collection of fat cells, or adipocytes, is located in the subcutaneous tissue beneath the skin.  Note the “honeycomb” appearance of the tissue due to the loss of the lipid from the cells during tissue processing.  In life, these cells contain a single large droplet of lipid which nearly fills the cell and displaces the cytoplasm and nucleus to the periphery.  Hypodermis  400x
