Simple, coiled tubular gland

The secretory portions of two simple, coiled tubular glands are shown in this image.  Here, the more lightly stained secretory portions of the gland coil along with the terminal end of the duct, which is more darkly stained.  Because the gland is highly coiled, multiple sections though the tube are visible.  The secretory portion of the gland is continuous with its duct, which initially coils along with the secretory portion.  The duct then straightens out and continues to the surface of the skin.  Skin 200x
