Venule

A larger venule is compared with its accompanying arteriole. The venule displays an irregular outline and its wall consists of an endothelium and subendothelial connective tissue. The wall of the venule is much thinner than that of the arteriole it accompanies. The arteriole has a circular outline, a visible internal elastic lamina, and a prominent tunica media consisting of 2-3 layers of smooth muscle. 400x
