Intermediate filaments

In addition to providing intracellular support, intermediate filaments are also associated with some adherent intercellular junctions.  These adherent junctions provide cell-to-extracellular matrix attachment in the form of hemidesmosomes (left) and cell-to-cell attachments in the form of desmosomes (right).  30,000x, 70,000x
