Multipolar neuron

These multipolar neurons are located in an autonomic ganglion in the sympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system. Sympathetic ganglia are generally located at some distance from the organs they innervate and contain large numbers of both incoming preganglionic axons as well as exiting, efferent postganglionic axons from the multipolar neurons. The neuron cell bodies are widely dispersed and extend numerous dendrites. Eccentrically-located nuclei are common. Satellite Schwann cells surround each neuronal in the ganglion. Their cytoplasmic processes form a capsule around the cell body. 100x, 1000x
