Simple, branched acinar gland

Each sebaceous gland is composed of multiple acini attached to a single, unbranched duct.  Several glands are pictured here.  The secretory product, sebum, is composed of a mixture of lipids, that accumulate in the cells as they progress from the periphery to the center of the acinus.  Cells are secreted in their entirety or rupture their contents into the hair follicle.  200x
