A compound, tubuloacinar gland consists of both tubular and acinar secretory units and the gland is subdivided by connective tissue into lobules Draining the secretory units are intralobular ducts, which are contained entirely within the lobule. Interlobular ducts are located in the interlobular connective tissue and drain multiple lobules. This gland is the submandibular (submaxillary) gland which is one of the major salivary glands.
