Cortex: Medullary ray
Medullary rays separate convoluted portions of the cortex and form the core of a renal lobule. Straight portions of proximal tubules and thick ascending limbs (distal straight tubules) are located in the medullary rays and are similar in appearance to their respective convoluted portions. Collecting ducts are also present in the medullary ray. 200x
