Testis proper: endocrine portion

Leydig (interstitial) cells are located in the tissue between the convoluted portions of the seminiferous tubules and constitute the endocrine portion of the testis. They secrete testosterone under the influence of luteinizing hormone from the pars distalis of the pituitary gland. Blood vessels and lymphatics are abundant in the interstitium surrounding these cells. 400x
