Testis overview
The processes vaginalis is a remnant of the peritoneal space that precedes the testis during its descent into the scrotum. The space is lined by the tunica vaginalis, a serous membrane, with visceral and parietal layers. Like all serosas, the tunica vaginalis is composed of connective tissue covered by a mesothelium (simple squamous epithelium). The parietal layer lines the inner surface of the scrotum; the visceral layer covers the tunica albuginea, the dense connective tissue surrounding the testis proper. Immature testis, 100x
