Appendix

The appendix, a portion of the large intestine, also lacks villi and has very straight intestinal glands.  Unlike the remainder of the large intestine, however, the appendix has a complete outer longitudinal muscle layer, thus lacking taeniae coli.  The appendix is covered by a serosa.  Abundant lymphoid tissue infiltrates the lamina propria.  100x
