Lipid droplets

This electron micrograph shows two elongated cells with numerous lipid droplets in their cytoplasm.  The lipid droplets appear homogenous and are not surrounded by a membrane.  This tissue was fixed with osmium tetroxide, which preserves the lipid and prevents it being dissolved during tissue processing.  6000x
