Cell shapes: stellate

A stellate, or star-shaped nerve cell (multipolar neuron) has numerous long processes emanating from the cell body, with its nucleus and nucleolus.  The cytoplasm is filled with clumps of RER and polysomes called Nissl bodies. The numerous processes provide impulse conduction between multiple cells.  Spinal cord  400x
