Hair follicle

Hair follicles are derived from the epidermis and are present only in thin skin.  Hair follicles have a terminal dilation called the hair bulb which surrounds a central papilla composed of dermal connective tissue.  Within the papilla are numerous blood vessels necessary for survival of the follicle.  40x
