Dermis
The papillary layer of the dermis, composed of loose connective tissue, forms an undulating interface with the overlying epidermis. At this junction, dermal papillae alternate with epidermal ridges or pegs (rete ridges or pegs) projecting downward from the epidermis. The thicker reticular layer of dermis is composed of dense irregular connective tissue. 200x

Duct of sweat gland >
Ducts of sweat glands empty onto the surface of the epidermis and as they pass through the epidermal layers they often appear like a corkscrew as seen here. The point where the duct is exiting from the base of the epidermis is indicated by the green arrow.
