Exocrine cells are polarized to secrete toward an epithelial surface.  Basal rough endoplasmic reticulum synthesizes proteins that are packaged as secretory granules located in the apex of each cell.  Contents of secretory granules are released into the acinar lumen by the merocrine mode of secretion.  Pancreas  1000x
