Pulmonary artery

As bronchi branch, transitioning to bronchioles, their associated pulmonary arteries branch along with them, decreasing in size as they do so. The bronchiole on the left is accompanied by two pulmonary arteries; the image on the right shows a pulmonary artery traveling with a terminal bronchiole as it transitions to a respiratory bronchiole. Both vessels are located adjacent to the passageway rather than being located within its wall, as a bronchial vessel would be. 400x
