Pulmonary artery
A low magnification view of the lung shows a cross section of a bronchus accompanied by a large pulmonary artery. Pulmonary arteries lie adjacent to, not within the wall of, respiratory passageways, carrying deoxygenated blood to the alveolar capillary bed. 40x

- Bronchial vessels >
Bronchial vessels are systemic blood vessels that lie within the tissues that form the wall of respiratory passageways. Bronchial arteries supply oxygen and nutrients to the tissues; bronchial veins drain deoxygenated blood away. Bronchial arteries originate as branches of the descending thoracic aorta; bronchial veins drain mostly into pulmonary veins with the remainder entering the systemic venous system.
