Respiratory bronchiole

A respiratory bronchiole, seen here in cross section, is lined by a simple, ciliated cuboidal epithelium with club cells and scattered cilia. The epithelium appears interrupted due to presence of alveoli which are an integral part of its wall. Alveoli from adjacent respiratory bronchioles and alveolar ducts surround this bronchiole. 400x
