Ileum

Peyer’s patches are aggregations of lymphoid nodules in the lamina propria on the antimesenteric side of the intestinal wall.  Nodules are found in their greatest number in the ileum.  In regions of large Peyer’s patches, as seen here, the villi may be reduced or absent.  The nodules seen here are secondary nodules, possessing a germinal center.  200x
